3rd Annual Queensland Transport Infrastructure Conference 2012
15-16 May 2012 Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Brisbane, Queensland
'Challenges, Solutions, Opportunities'
Queensland remains as one of Australia’s fastest growing States. Now in it’s third year, the QLD Transport Infrastructure Conference, to be held on the 15th & 16th of May, 2012 remains as one of the largest industry events where the public and private sector will come together to discuss the funding, construction and delivery of transport infrastructure in Queensland.
It is expected by 2031, Queensland’s population will grow by 1 million people to around 5.6 million people. While Queensland was well on the way to identifying and planning for the required infrastructure to support the economic growth, the disastrous floods and Cyclone Yasi devastated existing infrastructure, thus adding to the bill of projects and work to be carried out.

While Queensland was well on the way to identifying and planning for the required infrastructure to support the economic growth, the disastrous floods and Cyclone Yasi devastated existing infrastructure, thus adding to the bill of projects and work to be carried out.
With the timely release of The Queensland Infrastructure Plan (QIP) in November 2011, a strategic platform has been set to guide the planning, prioritisation and sequencing of infrastructure. It will improve the way existing infrastructure is managed, and provide a pipeline of targeted investment to deliver infrastructure where and when it is needed most.
Over the 2 days at the QLD Transport Infrastructure Conference, speakers will deliver an informative and exciting program which will discuss the prioritisation, planning and delivery of critical transport infrastructure in Queensland. Sectors of transport infrastructure to be addressed include roads, rails, busways, public transport, cycling, freight, minerals and resources infrastructure along with plenty of other topics including sustainability, winning government business, tendering, alternative funding mechanisms and PPP’s.
The conference will provide the ideal opportunity to examine what projects are shaping the State with the main aim being to assist both the public as well the private sector in better understanding the QLD market and providing them with an effective, efficient and environmentally viable means of being involved with projects.
Topics and Project Overview
The $85 million road project crossing the Yeppen Lagoon at the southern entrance to Rockhampton—jointly funded by the Gillard and Bligh Labor Governments—is on track and close to being shovel-ready.
Abigroup has finished a $116 million contract to design and construct the seawall bund and haul road for the Port of Gladstone Western Basin expansion in Queensland.
Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace said the release of the Australian Road Assessment Program report today demonstrated how vital the Bligh Government’s Bruce Highway Upgrade Strategy is to getting the job done.
