CPB Contractors has been awarded the tender to construct the Cooroy to Curra Section of the Bruce Highway.
Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Warren Truss, said the new upgrades will address safety and capacity issues.
“The Cooroy to Curra Section C project will improve safety and provide travel time savings for freight and passenger vehicles, as well as providing savings on infrastructure operating costs,” Truss said.
“The Australian government is also committed to progressing the Section D project on planning and design work for upgrading the section of the highway stretching from south of Keefton Road to Curra.”
The works will see the Bruce Highway widened to four lanes between the Traveston and Woondum interchanges.
Queensland Minister for Main Roads and Road Safety, Mark Bailey, said the company had a strong record in delivering major infrastructure projects.
“Work on Section C is expected to start in coming weeks and to be completed by mid-2018, weather permitting,” Bailey said.
“Over the next few weeks CPB Contractors will establish equipment and staff at the construction site.”
The project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland government.
